Ephesians 4:29 (NKJV)Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.
Our words are so important. As planes, cars, people, and tempers fly from place to place, you can hear all sorts of things said.As I read this passage, something profound occurred to me.When we speak to someone in an encouraging way, we are giving them something greater than nice words. We are actually used as a conduit of heaven to give something to them: GRACE.If we tear someone down or discourage them in some way, we are actually taking grace from them.
So what is grace?Grace is more than getting you what you did not deserve. It is a supernatural empowerment given to a person to enable them to accomplish something, which they would not have been capable of before.
Our encouraging words are the very things that God uses to equip others to accomplish great things.
