Do you know your Rhythm?

Recently I noticed something "shift" in my life rhythm. Do you know what that feels like? I added responsibilities and family dynamics had changed and things just didn’t "feel" right.

I struggled through this for several months, getting more stressed and less done! Continue Reading…

What is your goal? Information or Transformation

Our jobs as Pastors and leaders in the church is NOT to just transfer Information..

We should strive to  transfer…TRANSFORMATION.

Those are (2) totally different approaches to what we give those who hear us. If we see our responsibility to be just a good "Teacher & Preacher" and giving "information" and knowledge. We will produce followers who have a lot of information in the head, but their lives will really never change! They just become more "religious." Continue Reading…

Is your church like Egypt?

The world waits to see what the "New Egypt" will look like.

Its easy too recognize the movers and shakers in the process…

1- Those who have guns
2- Those who speak for the masses
3- Those with the money

Doesn’t this sound a little familiar? In the church, if you are the main, or a key leader it is… Continue Reading…

The church should do Great…When you aren’t there!

This year is the 15th anniversary of starting Cornerstone Church, while at the same time I was starting and building a business. Both are alive and well! I have seen a lot of "parallels" in the church and business arena.

Many have come and asked me about business ideas or advice on a struggling business, several of them needed to learn a very simple definition of a business~ An enterprise that can sell a product or service, pay all expenses, salaries (including the owner) and leave a surplus (profit).

I had to tell some aspiring Continue Reading…

Jesus Didn’t win the World!

Jesus didn’t win the world…

Jesus had a tribe of 12. He didn’t come to win the world but came to die for the world! He invested in and equipped a tribe of 12 that did win the world! What a great challenge for leaders!

Jesus didn’t spent His earthly ministry trying to do everything Continue Reading…

Don’t make this $30K MISTAKE!

Wrong Place…Wrong Label

Recently a fine Italian restaurant owner found a bottle of wine that was in the wrong place with the wrong tag in the wrong storage bag. You see the restaurant had a system of storage. Depending on value, a bottle was put in a certain type bag, then a tag placed on the bag for easy viewing, and then placed in a certain section. Continue Reading…

4-Essentials for a GREAT Sermon

I’m a firm believer in learning from others, and not re-inventing the wheel, unless there is no wheel! I want to share some tools and strategies I have gleaned from others, and by trial and error.

1. Team- A great tool in preparing a great message is having others to bounce ideas around with. At Cornerstone we have a teaching team and we meet on Monday mornings. We brainstorm about passages, illustrations, transitions & translations. It’s great fun, and a huge time saver. It really… Continue Reading…

5-Signs…Don’t follow that leader!

There are so many reports, surveys, studies & speculations about the state of the church. There seems to be "trends" in every direction: House churches, Multi site, church planting of every kind.

But in everyone of these scenarios there is an undeniable truth about the leaders… Continue Reading…

4-Signs of a mature LEADERSHIP TEAM.

The past several days we have been at our annual "staff retreat." I must say we have an incredible team!

Refocus. Not "Hocus Pocus"

I have been running around and been real busy lately. All great "stuff" all kingdom stuff, but just too much stuff! Even the right things can so easily drain all our reserves and blur our focus. Well, I think that’s where I am today. Continue Reading…
