Don’t be an 8-track tape church!

Just a couple of years ago I was touring a church, and in one of the kids rooms, they had an 8-track player! This is what went off in my head, among the loud sounds of cranial laughter, HOLY CRAP! The leader said they didn’t have many kids. YOU THINK?

That takes me to the 4th Distinctive of the COMB Network… the church MUST be relevant to the community in which it’s planted! What? Relevant…

Relevant- If something is relevant to a situation or person, it is important or significant in that situation or to that person. (Collins Language)

In other words, the church must present and demonstrate the power and love of the… Continue Reading…

3 Deadly "D’s" to church growth

Don’t throw away the souls God brings to you! I have seen many people hurt and turned off by the church because pastors and leaders get confused about keeping their eye on what is most important… Loving and leading people into a passionate relationship with Jesus Christ… Continue Reading…

Church Planting Challenge!

I will be sharing this vision tomorrow at the National Leaders Meeting for  Southern Baptists. Really excited to see what God is about to do! It’s all about seeing a great move of God in smaller communities. You can check out the COMB NETWORK web site too. Please, tell me what you think…

#2-Navy Seal lesson- "Fear Nothing!"

What you fear will cripple you! That’s why God is so against fear, fear is a sin! This is the second in the Navy Seal Leadership lessons series, based on the book,  Leadership Lessons of the Navy Seals. It should go without saying, fear has no place in the life of a Christ-follower, and certainly not in the life of a leader!

Fear is one of the oldest and most effective tools of the enemy to take out those who may be gifted, called, anointed & empowered to do great things for the Kingdom. Fear paralyzes it’s victim by injecting the mind  with overwhelming thoughts of, "what if?" What if I get hurt, I lose that.. Continue Reading…

#1-Navy Seal lesson – "Take Decisive Action!"

I love guys that get to blow crap up! So I was reading a business blog the other day, "Lessons Entrepreneurs Should Learn From The Navy Seals." The author based the article on the book  Leadership Lessons of the Navy Seals. Being a HUGE Navy Seals fan, needless to say this caught my attention! If I can learn to lead from guys that can inspire others to lay down their lives for those on their team, I want some of that! Continue Reading…

You better know what the "Z" looks like!

I was talking with  a friend yesterday (Dino Senesi). We were talking church planting strategy for the Comb Network. He made a statement that is so simple and profound. He said ‘We must move forward with Z-A thinking." What he meant was, we need to understand fully the type of leaders we want to produce, down to the last detail. Then and only then will we understand what we need to put in place in order for that Continue Reading…

Perception is King!

Perception is KING! I can’t tell you how many times I have spoken and preached this. It’s one of those "small foxes" that can not be overlooked. We need to understand the things we say and do may not match or even  slightly resemble our intention. Intention is not perception. What others hear and  experience will be "perceived" in a real and impactful way. So we must always ask this question: "How will this be perceived?" Continue Reading…

5-Final signs your church might SUCK!

1. You hate to delegate.

No one should fly alone! And you will crash and burn if you don’t pull a team around you. Ministry and church work is a battlefield wrought with difficulties and a strong adversary. If you choose not to share the load, and allow others to carry out their "specialty" it will be to your own demise!  Do what ONLY YOU… Continue Reading…

5-Signs your church might SUCK!

I was reading a business blog the other day, called "15-signs your business sucks!" As I read it, it became apparent these signs  apply to the church. I have no intention of equalizing the church with any type of business. But rather passionate about finding another missing piece to help my fellow gladiators who are fighting for the Kingdom and serious about making an eternal impact. So it is in that spirit I ask you this question, does your church have any of these (5) signs… Continue Reading…

Leadership Lesson-8. Work your STRENGTH!

It may sound like a no brainier, but I swear, I talk to so many leaders and pastors that spend soooo much time trying to improve on what they don’t do well, they neglect what they do BEST! This drives me crazy! Come on people! God has gifted, anointed and called you for a purpose and that purpose is to grow His Kingdom! He has put you in a place, and given you spiritual strength to accomplish that calling. Don’t turn your head to the right or the left! Instead… Continue Reading…
