3-Essentials for Super Leaders

I’m at a beautiful lake home, spending a couple of days with some seasoned passionate pastors that have seen it all and tried it all. As I hear these guys share there hurts, disappointments, triumphs and dreams some things come to my mind that we as leaders can never forget. Continue Reading…

4-Reasons God would give me one of His tacos!

We ordered in last night, one of my sons favorites... Taco Bell! Well, they screwed up the order! Shorted us 2-Tacos and an order of cinnamon twists. Wouldn’t you know it, the two  missing tacos belonged to my son, he was not HAPPY! I told him he could have mine. He refused, but knowing he would enjoy them so much more than me, I offered him mine… He refused. I finally talked him into taking one of them. Continue Reading…

Do you have your “Spiritual Soup?”

I spent the day yesterday with a young, ambitious, still seeking, not quite understanding, still questioning, big dreaming future leader. Through the day as we talked and laughed, he summed up all of his inquires with a a great question basically…

How do get what I need, when I don’t yet have it. (i.e., vision, passion, anointing & leadership skills)

He just wanted to know my story. I felt in some way… Continue Reading…

QUICK! Hit the”OFF” button?

I am a Star Trek fan. There I said it. And I like “Next Generation” better than the original. One of my favorite characters is “Commander Data.” He’s an android, i.e., robot. Whenever he has a malfunction, those caring for him can simply open his little “secret” door and engage his “shut down” or off button. Holy crap! I need one of those soooo bad!

I am at the end of a season where I have ran long and hard. Continue Reading…

Are the Reformed causing division?

Maybe I am just naive, but there just seems to be an overwhelming tide of negativity coming from some (not all, but seems like most) from the Reformed camp. (One of my closest friends is Reformed, but doesn’t participate in this kind of language ever!)

I have tried to understand this, but for the life of me I am still confused. I read blog after blog, tweet after tweet, and the language is very condemning, prideful & self-righteous. I am not saying that is “what” they are, I am saying that is what they “sound” like.

Please, someone shed some light on this. As one who desperately believes in the unity of the body of Christ, and trying to help plant churches that reflect unity and diversity, this display of disunity… Continue Reading…

Bishop Eddie Long…See no EVIL, speak no EVIL

I spoke to the student body yesterday at a Christian University. I was introduced as the pastor of a large multi-ethnic church. Afterward, an African American professor (friend of mine) asked me why I haven’t stated anything publicly about the scandal with Bishop Eddie Long. Continue Reading…

TGIF (The God I Fear) is: Exciting!

I really don’t understand stiff necked boring so called “Christians.” We are called to be like God, and the God I fear is EXCITING! I don’t serve a boring inattentive God. God is all up into all I’m doing…

  • He is excited about me!
  • He rejoices over me with dancing!
  • I am the apple of His eye!
