Village Kids 1st Time on Cell Phone

My wife was in the village called “Henry Village” today in Liberia West Africa. Her parents ministered in Liberia for 33 years. Her fathers name was Henry, and died of cancer in 2002.

We have found some land and are making arrangements to purchase some land and “adopt” the village. When my wife was there today, talking to me the village kids wanted to say “Hello” to the “American O-Pa” in America.

Love my wife’s heart, passion, faith and vision. I am truly blessed to have such a partner in building the Kingdom! Continue Reading…

God! Can you Just tell me WHY?

Honestly. We all ask that question, but I think that’s the wrong question. Our question should be… What? What next? There are so many things that come into play with the WHY?

Looking at the beautiful daughter of our worship pastor’s little 2-year old daughter who had a a drowning last week and is fighting everyday. I know when I stood over her and prayed for her, the question comes…WHY? Continue Reading…

Men. You Gotta let your Woman Roam!

I am sitting at home…Alone! My wife is in Liberia, West Africa (Her home where she was born). She is there doing great work for Think Liberia.

My oldest daughter and son-n-law are there as well, helping serving and putting things in order for the huge work God has for us to do.

My youngest daughter just left to study abroad for the summer in Spain. (Her boyfriend is here crying and crap, trying to get him to man up). So it’s just me and my son. All the women in my life  are out of the country.

After 30 years of marriage I can say I finally get it! I have to be just as much of a support to my wife as she is to me. She is incredibly powerful and gifted, and doing huge Kingdom things. It’s easy to be unsettled by that.

But my brothers, please trust me when I tell you this...Letting your wife Go with God, to Roam after His calling is sooo powerful. It brings such a dynamic to your relationship, it takes it to another level.

So just let me encourage you. I know it’s hard as a man to let your mate have freedom. It somehow feels like an insult to your manhood. Get over it. That’s the enemy trying to get you to hold her back! Don’t fall in that trap.

You will be much more powerful and do far greater things for God when you both have the freedom to listen and run after God fully supported by one another.

So…Let your woman roam. You will not be sorry, and the Kingdom will be greater!

What say you…Men and Women of God?

When was the last Time You Cried?

I asked a pastor this a while back, and he seemed almost offended. I wasn’t questioning his vision or calling, I was looking for  the DEPTH  of his passion.

There’s a difference between being consumed with passion, and passion consuming you… Continue Reading…

How do you DESCRIBE your church?

Describe your church.

If you had to describe your church to someone, what would you say? Would you try to use language they could understand? I think it’s important to use terms others use, or hear on a regular basis.

I ran across a church that had this description on their home page… Continue Reading…

Holy Castration?

I gotta get this off my chest.

.

I see so many pastors and leaders that have great hearts for God and for people, but have somehow lost their manhood. I’m serious, it seems they feel when God calls them to serve, a “holy castration” occurs and they are no longer allowed to be real men. Continue Reading…

If You LEAD you will BLEED

“It is better to obey God, rather than man”

Hurt people hurt people. And hurt people rip leaders apart, this is a fact. If you are a seasoned leader, you can compare battle scars received at the hands and lips of those  near and far. It’s a hurtful place at times, but this is the deal…

You can’t do anything else!

If you are walking after God’s heart and listening to His voice you must finish the race. Pain is a powerful motivator. It makes you want to quit, and most would never blame you for doing so. Thousands leave the ministry weekly!

But not YOU!

You hold on to the promise. You choose love and not bitterness. You walk in grace and not hate. You look to Jesus, the author of your call and the commander of the army in which you serve. You will not allow any enemy, slandering word, hurtful deed or demon from hell to turn your head!

Look down, I know there’s blood on the ground. It hurts, at times it takes your breath away, and other times it leaves you numb to all emotion. But remember the one who bled for you. He gave it all, so you could give it all.

Don’t stop short, don’t leave the battle field even when you’re wounded! Even while down, hold your weapon close  and  crawl if you have to, but never stop taking ground. All ground is bought and paid for in blood. Pay your price! Take the ground God has called you to take, and never back down.

Always Remember…If you LEAD you will BLEED

But… Great is your reward!

HOW a Leader Says Something is More Important, than WHAT they say

Be careful HOW you say something. That’s a lesson that I have to keep learning over and over as a leader. If you are blessed to have loving and loyal people on your team, and they are following and leading with you for the Kingdom… Continue Reading…

In It to Win It – Conquering Church

Is your church in it to win it? Every Church needs to be in their city to WIN their city. That has to be the heart cry of every pastor and leader in a church in order for that to happen. And that’s not an easy thing.

The pastor MUST see the city as “His” city, not my church, but my city! The pastor and leaders must have passion for the city. They must weep over it, pray over it, know it, get involved in it and… LOVE it.

Never focus on satisfying the crying mouths in the “nest” on Sunday, if you do you have lost the city. Never in scripture do I see the people of God called to conquer a group of people, but rater whole cities, regions and nations.

Being in your city to win it, means a different mind set of doing church. It calles into question and puts every action and reaction on the table of change. The battle lines of an on-going war change daily, weekly and monthly. However, most of us are doing the same things today we did years ago!

We must learn to put our ear to the ground and hear the cries of our city. We must put our ear to the lips of God and ask “what next Father?” It taks a big mission shift to understand the reality that God has called us to reach cities and not just satisfy people.

I don’t know about you, but my city has a calling on it. God has called us to more than just serve, love, give, preach and teach. God has called us to Win a City for the Kingdom, that is our calling, that is what we will set our eyes and hands to.

What about you? What say you?
