I don’t know if you understand the power of praying scripture, but I hope you do. There is great power in praying what God has said, even if it was for someone else, God may use it for you. I was challenged yesterday to pray this passage of Scripture (Deuteronomy 33:24-29) . I worded it in the first person for that very purpose. Like this…
My heavenly Father my you bless me as you did Asher, may I be…
The most blessed of sons;
May I be favored by my brothers,
And dip my foot in oil.
25 My sandals shall be iron and bronze;
As my days, so shall my strength be.
26 “There is no one like my God,
Who rides the heavens to help me,
And in His excellency on the clouds.
27 The eternal God is my refuge,
And underneath me are His everlasting arms;
He will thrust out the enemy from before me,
And will say, ‘Destroy!’
28 Then I will dwell in safety,
In a land of grain and new wine;
His heavens shall also drop dew on me.
29 Happy am I!
Who is like me, a person saved by the LORD,
The shield of my help
And the sword of your majesty!
My enemies shall submit to me,
And I shall tread down their high places.”
This is not bad hermeneutics, this is allowing the Word of God to go down deep and increase our faith in the goodness and faithfulness of our God. Pray this prayer, ask God to show Himself strong today on your behalf. If like me, some days you need these words to destroy the negative ones that are flooding in!
