Pastor Call: To Pursuit not Perfection
The expectations of a Pastor or Christian leader or many times unattainable. We are "expected" to act, think, speak, react, plan, budget, raise kids, have a marriage, counsel, lead, encourage, and O yeah…Preach to perfection.
I think we all know these are unrealistic, and these kind of expectations have destroyed so many promising leaders’ future… Continue Reading…
Can We Do It? Not Alone!
As I sit around a table of great men from every conceivable background, talking about winning cities, creating movements and turning nations, something becomes quite clear…
None of us can do it on our own.
I’m in Tanzania with Compassion and about 10-12 other pastors from around the US. We have AG, SBC, Lutheran, Presbyterian and some just "mixed up." Continue Reading…
4-Ways to GROW Leaders like Jesus!
Jesus bet a lot on a little!
When He left this world, He left the entire future of His church in the hands of a dozen, "untrained & uneducated men." I was recently thinking about how Jesus grew these extraordinary leaders, and He had one HECK of a system! He was entrusting all of Christendom to it!
Be fruitful & MULTIPLY
We are commanded to multiply… Continue Reading…
Jesus Didn’t win the World!
Jesus didn’t win the world…
Jesus had a tribe of 12. He didn’t come to win the world but came to die for the world! He invested in and equipped a tribe of 12 that did win the world! What a great challenge for leaders!
Jesus didn’t spent His earthly ministry trying to do everything Continue Reading…
3-Most FREEING words in the Bible!
A "down time" in church "stuff" came a few years back.
You know things aren’t growing the way you want, people aren’t stepping up the way you think they should. You are praying for new leaders and the number seems to dwindle, rather than g…row! Then one morning, while
crying out to God in normal whinny fashion God gave me this…
the Lord added… (Acts 2.47) Wow!
I can’t add a thing! It is not my responsibility…, Continue Reading…
6-Ways! If what you’re using aint moving… DISMOUNT
"If the horse you’re riding is dead, dismount." This is an old saying, which means, "if what you are using is not moving…dismount." Sometimes even the best laid, thought out & mind mapped ideas and systems just don’t work! They simply don’t produce the results we need. To often, these programs or systems stay in place because a lot of resources an energy have been invested. However, what if… what you are doing just aint working? So what do you do…? What do you do…?
Well, don’t do this… Continue Reading…
Truth? Don’t argue YOURS!
Yesterday, Rick Warren tweeted this:
Satan loves for you to to ARGUE the truth with believers so you never actually SHARE it with unbelievers. Continue Reading…
Are the Reformed causing division?
Maybe I am just naive, but there just seems to be an overwhelming tide of negativity coming from some (not all, but seems like most) from the Reformed camp. (One of my closest friends is Reformed, but doesn’t participate in this kind of language ever!)
I have tried to understand this, but for the life of me I am still confused. I read blog after blog, tweet after tweet, and the language is very condemning, prideful & self-righteous. I am not saying that is "what" they are, I am saying that is what they "sound" like.
Please, someone shed some light on this. As one who desperately believes in the unity of the body of Christ, and trying to help plant churches that reflect unity and diversity, this display of disunity… Continue Reading…
