Are you DEEP enough yet?

This is crazy! I can’t do all this, “bout to loose my mind, up in here, up in here.” I don’t know if you can identify with a thought process like that or not. But, if you are a high output leader, I’m sure you can!

Many leaders take on soooo much… (more…)

5-Things more important than your Church

Sep 1st, 20104 Comments

I’m sitting in a hotel room in Mississippi (10hr  drive from home), I’m here serving my wife on a work project that had simply overwhelmed her, and she really needed my help. Through tears and shaking hands she asked me, no really begged me to take a couple days off “church stuff” to help her. “How can I do that!??” (more…)

Don’t kick the Power to the curb!

I hate religion! I mean the mind set that dictates what must not, and what must be in order to please God. The mind set that adds to the Word what is not there, and ignores what is there,  all in the name of “being” more righteous. In other words modern day Pharisees. Unfortunately, those who fall into this category would never admit it! Most are so righteous in their own minds, they don’t even know, that’s them! (more…)

The STICKS! Waz up!!!

Charles “Chazzdaddy” Hill & me, talking about the handing off of the baton of leadership. Charles is a humble and obedient man of God! The Lord told him he could no longer run theSticks, that he had to lay it down and focus on his current church plant. So I was asked to pray about taking over theSticks and making it apart of the COMB Network. It is a match with “GOD” written all over it!

I’m in Deep Do-Do!

Aug 24th, 20104 Comments

As a leader right now, I feel I am in deep “do-do.” Ever feel like that? Way in over your head, tackling something above your ability? So much so, you sit almost completely numb, just thinking to yourself, “I better run away right now, before everyone finds out I really can’t do this!”

Having taken the helm of theSticks conference and gatherings, along with continuing to develop The COMB Network, and pastor Cornerstone, I say, WHAT!!! How can I do all this? The answer is simple I can’t. I need HELP! What God has has done is… (more…)

Ever feel like telling God… NO!

I’ve been mesmerized the last several days about Peter’s encounter with Jesus in Luke 5. He and his partners were fishing all night, and caught NOTHING, Zero, Nada! The nets were cleaned and put away, they were ready to go home and crash… but wait. Jesus says to push out into the deep and let your nets down for a catch…what?? (more…)

Don’t cut it, if you can “Untie” it!

Aug 19th, 20102 Comments

I was reading a blog today by Paul Anderson-Walsh He was addressing the issue of how leaders and pastors have left a lot people behind, because many are just to difficult and require to much energy to deal with. Many pastors are themselves hurt, and we know “hurt people hurt people”… (more…)

7-Proofs, I don’t have it all together!

Aug 18th, 20102 Comments

You know, just because you are a pastor, leader, father, mother or CEO it doesn’t mean you aren’t human! I’m a pastor, but I am so human it is flat out scary. Almost everyday I think to myself, everyone around me is going to figure out I don’t have it all together. It’s not like I act as if I have it all together, it’s just that when you are a leader, people “think” you should have it all together! Well let me confess to you right now I DON’T! Let me tell you why… (more…)

The churches’ NASTY little secret!

Aug 9th, 20106 Comments

There are far too many churches that are still doing church for one people group. The 5th distinctive of the COMB Network is the church should be Ethnically-Reflective. In other words, the inside of the church should be a reflection of what is on the outside.

I don’t like the term “multi-ethnic.” Almost every group and organization have given the term their own definition and mostly to make sure they feel as if they “fit” as a multi-ethnic church. I much prefer the term “ethnically reflective.” (more…)

Don’t be an 8-track tape church!

Aug 6th, 20101 Comment

Just a couple of years ago I was touring a church, and in one of the kids rooms, they had an 8-track player! This is what went off in my head, among the loud sounds of cranial laughter, HOLY CRAP! The leader said they didn’t have many kids. YOU THINK?

That takes me to the 4th Distinctive of the COMB Network… the church MUST be relevant to the community in which it’s planted! What? Relevant…

Relevant- If something is relevant to a situation or person, it is important or significant in that situation or to that person. (Collins Language)

In other words, the church must present and demonstrate the power and love of the… (more…)
