I teach a leadership class at our church and the assignment for this past week was “Write your personal mission statement.”
As you can imagine, everyone wanted to love God, read their Bible more and win the world for Jesus.
All good, but not very personal.
Then we moved on to writing a vision statement for your church, ministry or organization. I found three helpful tools that really helped clarify a vision for an individual or organization.
#1 3-Power words
Brainstorm and come up with three action words that would best describe how you intend to accomplish your goals. Words like…Overcome, enlist, empower, multiply, etc.
#2 State your target
Who specifically are you planning to have the greatest impact on if your vision comes to pass. Think of things like demographic, geographic or economic, etc.
#3 1-Word Win
Choose one word, that would best describe what you would consider a win. Such as…Complete, connected, multiplied, won and so on.
Use these three tools to help sharpen and simplify your vision. It will help craft a vision statement that you and others will remember and run with.
