John the Baptist sent two of disciples to ask Jesus if He was the One…
Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things which you hear and see: (Matthew 11:4 NKJV)
Jesus goes on to list all of the miraculous things done at his hand and by his voice and tell them that He preaches the Gospel.
Well, we are commanded to be Like Jesus in all that we do, to model His life of service, love and…well, the miraculous.
Honestly I don’t really know how to deal with that. I have never healed a leper or raised the dead. But, I am asking God to give me the faith and humility to walk as He walked and to love as He loved. So my question becomes…
What are people seeing me do that is miraculous?
It seems that in our day when so many have the mind set “all roads lead to heaven” that it’s more obligatory than ever for the true followers of Jesus to demonstrate the power of the Gospel!
We can have great oratory skills, and impress those we serve with our selfless acts of sacrifice and caring, but honestly…many others who don’t follow Jesus do those things just as well as we do!
I believe the time has now come when the church must move in the power of the Gospel in ways that definitively separate it from all other perceived or accepted paths that bring the acceptance of God.
We need to embrace those attributes demonstrated by Jesus that authenticated who He was to a culture that would refuse to accept His authority…namely the demonstration of the miraculous.
Now…that is scary to me, but I’m getting close to my last quarter of the game, I want to score big for the Kingdom! I must have the faith and willingness to allow the Spirit of a God to throw me a “Hail Mary” pass, and use every ounce of my being to catch and hold on for a victory!
