Ever feel like that? I know I have on many occasions. Here’s the deal, when we see things in our churches that need to be changed but we lack resources, leadership, time or energy, the first temptation is to wait until we have or most of these before we move…Wrong.
As the coaches scream from the corner of a MMA match…”Move or Die, Move or Die!” Here are three things you can do today that will begin to change everything!
#1 PULL together a prayer team.
You need a strong prayer team. I’m not talking about the group that is supposed to “pray” one night a week. I mean a team that’s dedicated to protect and honor you as their leader and support the vision of the church.
Start moving in that direction by recruiting personally those who meet the former qualifications. Then begin to communicate by email or text (Be careful what you share! Trust is huge) and ask for prayer about specific challenges and goals for the church.
#2 PUSH out the distraction.
You must…Must MUST, take time to be alone.
Not to study for Sunday, but a time when you are quiet before God just to hear His voice. This is a spiritual discipline that has, for the most part, been lost and replaced with blogs, devotionals and podcasts (nothing wrong with those, just not a replacement). You must do this on a daily basis, it costs nothing, but changes everything!
#3 POUND the ground in your community.
Just be seen. Just go and see. Talk to people, not about church or stuff like that, just talk. Ask God to give you a renewed heart of passion for those around you. Despair will soon be replaced with a fresh fire of passion! Remember, “He who waters others, will himself be watered..” Proverbs 11:25
