Who should NOT matter to You?
âThose who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind.â âBernard M. Baruch
I have encountered some wicked people in my years of ministry. But by far, the most wicked is the one with a “religious spirit.” You know the ones…
They constantly find fault
They judge without mercy
They are pious and self-righteous
They want others to be like them
They have conditional acceptance
Needless to say, someone who is “religious” like the person above, shouldn’t matter…what they say, or their opinion carry weight. The problem is, these type of people make you Want to please them!
Run from these people. They don’t matter, and if you get sucked into their trap, and try to please them, it only brings pain and misery. You have an audience of ONE. Please God and not man.
Do you have difficulty not being a man pleaser?

I have been. Then I read Galatians 1:10 in the NLT version and realized I’ve allowed *this* person to be an idol to me. Working to change tba now.
That has been a “bane” of my ministry in the past. As I have gotten older, I have cared less and less for approval. Not that I don’t like it, but it no longer drives what I do or say.

You are so right Bill. I think that is one of the hardest lessons learned by church leaders. And the only way to learn it is going through it.
I certainly have been. These days I’m finding that, as long as I’m right with Jesus, I’m ok with letting the rest rant as they will. I try not to be intentionally rude or cause unneeded pain but I have no problem with handling the judgement and disapproval of people who don’t like me.

Great attitude John, very proud of you dude!
The older I get the less I care. I hope this trend continues!

Ha! Me too Eileen. But every now and then it will want to creep in, but I kick it in the butt!
Hello, my name is Mark and I’m a man-pleaser.
And yes, these charismatic (not in the churchy sense) leaders can easily manipulate man-pleasers into doing their bidding. My advice is to run at the first indication of manipulation, my experience is that it will only get worse the further in you get drawn in.

Bro, you hit the nail on the head! Manipulation is straight from the pit. No one should ever deploy that evil tactic.
