Your Best Ever…Every-Time
That was your…
“Best Ever!”
As a leader, those words spoken to you by someone you respect is like water to a thirsty man. Not that we seek praise from men, but we all look to be encouraged in our calling.
Every-Time
Recently a pastor friend was telling me a story about a coach he grew up with. This coach said, “Every-time will be my best time!”
The coach explained...
“Every-time I do something, I tell myself, this will be my best-ever. That way, I feel compeled to do even better the next time. This forces me to learn, grow and get stronger for the next encounter.”
I think the coach was really on to something. When we approach every challenge, sermon, process or relationship with this mind-set, This…Sermon, This…Issue, This…encounter will be meet my Best-Ever! But how do we keep such a sharp edge that can produce like that? We never stop…
Learning
I love learning new things. It keeps me sharp and opens new questions that drive me to find the answers that will make me better. I’ve found the way to that is…

Read a-lot

Listen a-lot

Watch a-lot

Write a-lot (Blog, journal, etc. You really learn when you write!)
Loving
Nothing can fuel you like passion and love. If you really love something, it will fuel your passion to be your very best at it every time. If you ever feel your love and passion waning. Step back, re-fuel until the passion returns.
Leading
When those around us see our determination to always learn and love, we are leading from the most influential place. The place of showing not just telling. Where we model to those around us a life full of passion, faith and hope.
I want to be like the coach! Every-time, will be my Best-Ever! (I may print that and put it over my desk!)
Are you willing to make Every-Time your Best-time? What will be your greatest challenge?Â

College, in a holistic sense, will be my greatest challenge yet. With this is mind, I aspire to commit to my classwork, my leadership roles, my friends, my finances, my responsibilities as a young adult, and each new day as if it is “my best ever”. This seems like a tiring goal, but stepping back occasionally (as you noted) and staying focused perpetually should help. Not to mention great encouragement gleaned from posts like this and my loved ones.
Thanks for the word. Twas truly inspiring.
