If it’s NOT tested…It’s not REAL

“I have a Rocket Ship.” Really? “Has it ever flown?” NO! “Well, it’s not a Rocket ship.” Yes it is, I built it, and says right on the side, “Rocket Ship.”

Somethings can carry a label, but when tested it becomes obvious it’s not authentic. What is advertised is not really what’s on the inside. It’s the same with anything we carry in life.

We are so quick to say…

  • “Our staff is so loyal”
  • “We have a great marriage”
  • “Our church is united”
  • “We are generous with our resources”

We can make a number of other statements that “advertise” what we think is authentic. But NOTHING is real until tested. And believe me, if you carry anything in your life that can do damage to the kingdom of darkness, it will be tested by fire!

…because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.  Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. ~ James 1

I guess my challenge and reminder is to walk in humility. I see too many leaders that make statements about who they are, what they have or what they will do before their “faith” in that area has been challenged and tested. And some don’t allow the testing to “finish it’s work” and they fall out.

Recognize when testing comes, and know it can’t be shortened. Embrace it and just “Stand!”

  1. I have a real problem with saying something like “I will stand” when I have not been tested in some area.  For example, I read a post today about a pastor in Iran (I believe) who will probably die as a result of refusing to recant his faith.  could I do that?  I hope so.  Only in the test will we find true strength.  Thanks Artie.

Hmmm…this sounds very familiar. I think someone told me this recently. lol.

  3. Those who haven’t been tested may achieve success, but the success usually doesn’t last.  The more thoroughly you have been tested, the longer you will last and the more successful you will become.

    Sometimes success IS the test.
