Ever feel like you’ve been hit by a truck? You have no energy left, you can’t move, never mind about the next project…You can’t pull your self out of the road! Now what do you do?
If you’ve had the privilege of leading for any period of time, you may be all to familiar with this feeling. It’s not depression, discouragement or even burn out. You may call it being “stressed out” but I think a better description would be “stretched out.”
There are times when we move into a new season of responsibility, begin to follow a new dream or vision, and all of a sudden we use “muscles” we have never used before. We are stretched in ways we have never been, it hurts, it’s draining and exhausting…but the task and vision remain! And we feel almost helpless in seeing it move forward.
So what do we do…
Move Up
You have to move up a level of responsibility. You can’t stay where you are, and accomplish what you were doing and add what you are supposed to do next = Road Kill! No. You find creative ways to delegate, shift deadlines, and say no. Take intentional steps to free time and energy for the new vision.
Look Up
Be careful to keep you eyes on the prize, your calling and purpose. If you look at your self, or the things you want, it sucks energy and puts responsibility square on your shoulders and adds pressure. Look to God and what He has said, then you can walk in faith and not fear.
Speed Up
Be creative and look for new tools that will allow you to do more in less time. You can’t continue to employ the same tools on this trip as you have all the others. This is  a new journey! Before you were digging, this time you are flying! Find the right tools to get it done the fastest.
Slow Down
You have to be methodical in your planning. This will take self discipline to slow down and be sure about the next step, process or system you’re going to put in place. Nothing will take you down faster than having to scrap and redo projects because of poor up-front planning.
Look Down
Make sure you watch over those following you. It’s easy to get so wrapped up in the “new thing” that you neglect the team that is allowing you to fly! Take care of them, honor them, make sure they are kept in the loop and feel a part of the process. If you loose them, or they bail = Road Kill
Artie, this is such a timely post. Thanks for allowing God to use you.
