Don’t Preach That!

“My message is not my own, it comes from God who sent me.” ~John 7:16

We are called to be like Jesus as leaders. And Jesus got His "sermons" from the Father. Not someone else, not an on-line service, but from God Himself. In other words, the communicator, preacher or teacher needs to spend the time necessary for God to fill them with His "Fire."

I’m not saying you can’t collaborate with other leaders and pastors. On the contrary, I’m a big advocate of having, or being a part of a teaching team. But that just gives you the outline and scriptures. You have to take those, lay them before God and ask Him to burn them in you.

The most powerful, most God filled moments you will ever communicate will come from an overflow of your time with God. You will know then, they are not your words, but God’s. Because they are so hot in your mouth, you have to spit them out or die! God put them there for you to speak, not to hold in.

Never settle for just giving information. That’s the easy part! Just picking a passage, and using your training or experience and making it sound good and godly. That is the lazy and coward’s way. NO! Don’t just give information, give them a God breathed fire storm straight from heaven, that brings TRANSFORMATION.

SO…don’t preach Information, give them Transformation.

What say you?

Excellent thoughts today Artie! I have been guilty of the information in the past but now I pray for a desire transformation.

Me too Jim, nothing but transforming words spoken and fueled by the Spirit.

I love it! I’ve always believed that information without transformation can only lead to ego. We start to feel good about what we "know" without allowing it to change who we are. Knowledge without application is useless.

Now that will preach Mr. Ja! Thanks my bro

Couldn’t agree more! Romans 12:1-2 says that we offer ourselves as sacrifices (subjecting ourselves as example) and then proving (dokimao (spelling?) verify the value, authenticity, quality of metal) this by experience to ourselves first so that we are fully convinced. Hebrew teachers were never allowed to say "I know" about anything regardless of their education about it, unless they had experience there. We need to understand what God would have us translate, but we have to experience it to be FULLY convinced ie passionate.

Great thoughts, too many times we take the easy road, but a word that comes from your time and relationship with God can do more than the greatest 5 point sermon prepared by man.

You summed it perfectly David, just one Word from God can change everything.
