Church Planting. Small Style!

This week I want to share with you the five distinctives our new Church-Planting movement called the Comb Network. This new Network was birthed after an extended time of seeking God for what He had next for us as a church family. We had already done the growing, and moving, bigger crowds & bigger buildings… We knew God wanted us to take our unique DNA (an Ethnically-Reflective, relevant, loving community in a small town) and see it multiplied and transferred. Out of that intense time of seeking God, the vision for the Comb Network was birthed.

The first initiative of the Network is a plan called, Pray2K. The plan is to plant 2000 new churches in the small communities of the 15-states comprising the Bible Belt. These new plants will first be planted in "hubs" these hubs will serve as launching pads for other church plants surrounding the initial "hub" plant.

The 1st distinctive of the Comb Network is its focus on "Smaller Communities." We see these as the forgotten… the last great mission field of North America. These smaller towns are starving for an encounter with God, starving for the opportunity to understand God in their context and culture. We have a passion to bring "fresh bread" to those who are hungry, and living water to those who are thirsty.

Jesus told His disciples He must "go to the surrounding towns and villages", as today’s church, our mandate is the same. We need to win the big cities, but we CAN NOT forget about the "surrounding towns and villages."

Love your heart of focusing on smaller communities. That really is our mission with our multi-site initiative here at Bay Area Fellowship. We want to have a church in every small town in south texas.
