#4 Navy Seal lesson – “Seek Excellence, not Fame!”
This whole thing is not about you! I have to remind myself of that truth sometimes… well, more often than I would care to admit! You know that feeling, when you work hard at a project, event or ministry, and it turns out great. We look for our ticker tape parade, and the old model Cadillac convertible so we can sit on the back seat wave at our applauding fans while sporting a look of humility.
The challenge is to always pursue & model excellence in order to give God our best. Excellence is not about being “showy” and it certainly is not about impressing others, it is a condition of the…heart! Our heart must be passionate and captured by the truth that whatever we do, we do unto the Lord.
Fame is like Glory, and only God should receive Glory! The heart of a true Christ-follower will be one that will always do their best, no matter what, or who is watching. If they are a leader, they will not garnish praise from their team, but lavish them with accolades of honor. Then, when all is finished well, and successfully completed. They will allow Jesus is rightful place in the ticker tape parade, to receive all glory and praise, because He is the one who endowed us with the gift and ability to accomplish the task. So…
Seek Excellence not Fame!

Thanks so much for posting this! I really like the series on Navy Seals!
Along a "parallel but inverse" line of thought:
"Work and live so that your activities will not DETRACT from God's glory!"
A Marine might phrase it: Don't dishonor the Corps!
