A leaders Future. How bright is yours?

Guest Post: From Leah Davis (My youngest daughter)

Several months ago when I was at Clemson I heard a pastor say, “if your life is boring and you’re not excited about living every single day I question whether or not you’re actually a Christian.” I know my God has a will for my life that looks something like this:

  • I will make her smile with my glory every morning when I bring the sun over the horizon
  • I make her cry tears of joy every night when she thinks back on all the things I did for her that day to express my love and devotion
  • I will grow her faith every hour by speaking promises to her and always following through on them
  • I will humble and excite her heart when I whisper to her about the great things I have in store for the future
  • I will reveal my character to her when I tell her I no longer remember the things of old but am doing a new thing
  • She will be my child and be near to me because she is forgiven and alive in Christ

Want to be a leader? Think you’re a leader? You can’t lead people until God tells you where to lead and it might be beneficial to know that before you start walking.

However, we must learn to conquer the enemy and live a life of freedom every day, “For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds.”

How can we live a life of defeat and mediocrity when Jesus told us we were to do even greater things than he did? Discovering the power we have in Christ starts with simple physical actions that will lead to a deeper spiritual understanding:

  • Get up and read your Bible. It’s not about how you feel. Do the the love thing!
  • Pray before you read, while you read, after you read, then all day long (If your mind wonders, write in a prayer book(this is not feminine, its cool)).
  • Give praise and thanks when you feel your joy slipping(Is this against your nature? Good. That means its worthwhile).

All these things will play a major role in your success or failure as a leader. How bright is yours going to be?

    Great post, m'lady!

Once God tells you where to lead you have to also keep your eyes on that assignment until GOD gives you a new one.

Satan will use circumstances, unbelievers, and even close believing friends to divert you from God's mission objective!

    Again, GREAT article!

    Dear Leah,

It is nice to be naive. Jesus stood over the city of Jerusalem and wept over how it was about to reject him. He prayed in the Garden until his sweet feel like a bleeding wound. Who knows what he felt when they beat the crap out of him. Then he was nailed to a cross. Having a good day? I doubt it.

What about the Christians in the city of Rome that were persecuted and families watched their loved ones burned at the stake? Having a good day? I doubt.

How about sitting with a friend’s family that busted his head open falling off a ladder while doing work on our student center. A lot of unhappy days followed.

How about me. Ever go to sleep wanting to die? Only to awake wanting to die? Bad Day! I went through hell for many years. Did I have happy times yes. Me not a Christian?

Sister, you have a lot to learn. It seems some of your readers do too. How about Peter warning us to expect suffering.

Does that mean I am not glad to be a Christian? No. I am thankful for Jesus every day. If all I have been through has been necessary I glorify God and would go to bed wanting to die all over again.

You need to leave the shelter of your surroundings and get out into the real world so you can have a few bad days. Because when you serve Jesus you will have a few.

A Christians who has had a few bad days.

Dang Carter, I hope you aren’t sharing your story hoping someone will want to follow you. It’s not the circumstances, it’s your attitude “in” the circumstances.
