Leadership Lesson-9: Delegate your Weakness!

Let me speak the truth to you right here right now! You are not as good as you may think you are. I know, I know, no one like to hear that, but we must face facts. As a leader, it is your job, lead those that follow you, and accomplish the vision God has given you. Believe me, you will need others around you to see that happen.

Somethings you were not designed to carry. God has gifted others around you to do things with great efficiency & excellence that you would struggle with just to get by. Part of maturing as a leader is recognizing these areas early, and intentionally looking for those around you that could pick up those areas. Once you find them, empower them to operate in their strength communicate expectations clearly, and LEAVE THEM ALONE and let them operate in their giftedness! Allowing those around you to come along side and carry what you were not intended to carry will make you a Kingdom team!

Great lesson. We all have our own special gifts but we must lead others to take on responsibilities that we don't excel at. Some times it is very difficult to get others to follow your lead.

Great lesson. Too often "leaders" hire folks just like themselves.

One of the hardest parts is being honest about yourself and identifying your weaknesses.

It's also a good exercise to list ALL the talents/skills/attitudes you want in your team (after much prayer, of course). Then, identify what you are EXCELLENT AT. Then, hire to fill the gaps.

Thinking "football" is also good. You may be a great quarterback, but you still need the non-QB skills that the other 10 guys bring to the game.

Great post, Artie! I hope you've recovered from the wedding!
