4-Things I’m willing to die for!
It is said, if you really want to know what someone belives, ask them “are you willing to die for that?” In others words, is that thing so precious and so vital to you, that you are willing to die to save it or defend it. Today is Memorial Day, when we honor those that did that very thing. Those brave souls who loved and believed in freedom for themselves and others that they made the ultimate sacrifice in defending it. I’m no hero like these but we should all be willing to ask the Q. “What am I willing to die for?” There aren’t many things that I would die for, but there are (4)…
1. My Family
Of course this should be on all of our lists. However, it’s easy to say but remember we are called everyday to lay down our lives for those we love. We are to love our wives as Christ loved us, and died for us! So how are you doing with that one?
2. My God
I would not deny my God! I can honestly say if someone were to hold a gun to my head and say I must deny Christ, I really believe I would say, “hit my with your best shot.” I will not deny my God!
3. My Friends
Not any friend! But there are a few that have a piece have my heart and I care for so deeply that I would give my life for them! I really feel they would do the same. I mean give a kidney, part of a lung, and even life if necessary. “No greater love is this, that we lay down our lives for our friends!” We are called to be like Jesus!
4. My Freedom
I would give my life to defend this country and our rights. I know it seems our country is all screwed up now. Maybe I am a hopeless romantic, but I’m always looking for the good part! I still love this great country! I remember a story my mentor and father-n-law told me. Not long after I met him (He was a missionary in West Africa for 33-yrs), I wasn’t sure how he felt about things, even though he was a WWII vet. I asked him, “dad what would you do if you heard our enemy was invading our country and coming up through Texas?” He said “I would make it to the front lines as fast as I could (He was 70), I would jump in a fox hole, raise both hands to heaven and say, Praise the Lord & pass the ammunition!” You can tell why I loved him so!
Anything else you would be willing to give your life for?
