8-Things that just don’t MATTER!

When you are a leader, it is in your heart to accomplish the vision, inspire others,do well & finish well. However, along the way, there are somethings you learn that just don’t matter. Even though in the beginning you heard, or thought they were. Soon, you discover, that somethings not only don’t matter, they can be very detrimental to your leadership, team & Church! So you must learn what things matter, and the 8-Things that just don’t MATTER!

1. What your critics think. You will always have them no matter what. Obey God, not man! You will have to decide to offend the “religious” or the “unchurched”, choose the religious!

2. What other people are doing. Don’t do something just because it worked for someone else. If you change, add or subtract based on the book you just read, or the conference you went to, you lose! Your place is unique hear God’s plan for you!

3. That is has never been done before. God is always doing something new, hear His voice & obey. I know, it’s hard to do something you can’t read about and see if it worked. Just like our weekly spontaneous baptisms. But, it’s a God thing!

4. They think you should spend more time at church. Never sacrifice your family for ministry. Lose/Lose! I like Andy Stanley’s take on this, “we will always cheat time somewhere, cheat the church, not your family.” Enough said.

5. The money & staff just aren’t there.God never gives vision without provision. If it’s a God thing, it will be a miraculous thing! 1st step, take the time to hear from God, know His plan for you, then put your head down and PUSH! No matte what!

6. The other churches don’t like what you are doing. This is probably the best barometer that you’re doing the God thing! I know, I don’t like it when I hear other pastors say I’m going to hell, and God is not pleased with us. My question is, “the 150 people we saw get saved and baptized last month, you want us to give them back to the devil?

7. The person you want to lead doesn’t “seem” qualified. God will always use one that seems unlikely, that one that seems to have a high level of passion but not the talent! Listen, let God tell you who to promote, not man. He is the only one that see’s the heart!

8. That you aren’t growing as fast as “them.” Don’t get me wrong, we all need to grow as churches! Because what is not growing is dying. But it will knock the life out of you to compare yourself to someone else in another place! Be faithful where you are! God will grow His church!
