One of the key elements of developing a multi-ethnic church is learning to be one. Education is key. To be successful, you must:
Do an honest self-evaluation â You probably donât realize just how âwhiteâ you really are. Study other cultures â Learn about other people groups.
Take stock of what youâre reading, watching & listening to â If you donât expose yourself to multi-ethnic media, you will not reach multi-ethnic groups.
Think about who you talk to and what questions you ask â If you want to understand other people groups, you have to talk to people from those groups. Ask them the important questions. Get personal and get detailed.
You cannot lead a multi-ethnic church until you are willing to learn what a multi-ethnic church would look like in your culture. There is no âone-size-fits-allâ formula. What has worked for us at Cornerstone may or may not work in your community. But, one thing is certain. You cannot reach a people group you do not understand.
